Hysteroscope

The hysteroscope is a narrow tube-like camera, about 3 to 5 millimeters in diameter, used to perform a hysteroscopy.

Hysteroscopy

A hysteroscopy is a procedure used to examine the inside of the uterus using a hysteroscope. The hysteroscope enters through the vagina, through the cervix, and into the uterus, relaying images back to a computer screen where the doctor can screen for abnormalities in the uterine lining.

Harpoon the whale

  A slang term (and very unprofessional one) that refers to sticking a needle into an obese patient with lots of extra tissue. Often referring to Lumbar Punctures or US guided IV’s. “We managed to harpoon the whale and get CSF from the LP.”  

Hallucinoma

  a mass seen on a radiogarphical scan that is not actually there, but doctors believe they see it. “I can’t believe they transferred this patient here for this total Hallucinoma. She’s fine to go home!”
