Laparoscopic Hysterectomy

A laparoscopic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive procedure wherein the uterus is removed. A small incision on the belly button/navel with additional incision on the lower abdomen as opposed to one larger incision in the traditional abdominal hysterectomy. This allows for minimum blood loss, scarring, and post-operative pain which decreases the likelihood of complications.

This surgery can be performed to leave the cervix in, termed a laparoscopic supra-cervical hysterectomy, or remove the cervix, termed a total laparoscopic hysterectomy.
